National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu has been widely commended for successfully mediating a historic peace agreement between the Ijaw and Itsekiri ethnic nationalities over the contentious Warri Federal Constituency II representation in Delta State.

Ribadu chaired a high-level resolution meeting that brought together key stakeholders from both ethnic groups, including former Delta State Deputy Governor Kingsley Otuaro and Dr. Eric Omare for the Ijaw nation, as well as Sir A.S. Mene and Chief Robinson Ariyo for the Itsekiri nation. Also present were DSS Director-General Oluwatosin Adeola Ajayi and other senior government officials.

The agreement provides that the House of Representatives seat for Warri Federal Constituency II will be occupied by the Ijaw ethnic group for the first two consecutive terms before rotating to the Itsekiri ethnic group for the next two terms.

By securing the signatures of all parties and obtaining Federal Government endorsement, Ribadu helped avert a potentially serious ethnic and political crisis in the Niger Delta.
