NULGE commended A’ Ibom Governor for fulfilling his campaign promises to the Union

The President, Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees(NULGE), Akwa Ibom State, Comrade Anestina Iweh, has commended Governor Umo Eno for thrown his weight to fulfill his campaign promises and meeting the demands of the Union. 

 Comrade Iweh was full of appreciation to the Governor for attending to all the items contained in the Union’s charter of demand presented during his consultation visit to NULGE. 

 Reeling out the itinerary for the 2024 Local Government Workers Week celebration to journalists on Friday, the President said the week will commence with thanksgiving on Sunday, September 15, 2024 at Insight Bible Church, Nsikak Eduok Avenue, Uyo. 

She said local government workers will thank God particularly for giving them a Governor Eno who has prioritised the welfare of workers. 

 “We will all gather at Insight Bible Church to tell God thank you for what God has done for the local government workers. It was not easy for the leadership of the Union before now due to government indebtedness to members. Today the narrative is different.”

 We will tell God thank you for giving us a Governor that came during campaign to consult us for the first time in the history of the Union and asked us what we wanted, we presented all our demands to him. Personally, I did not believe him because of where he came from, but the Governor has surprised the local government workers and has surpassed my expectations”.

The thanksgiving services will be followed by a novelty football match between the transition chairmen and the heads of local government service at Uyo Township Stadium on Monday, September 16, 2024 and on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, will be a carnival float to appreciate the Governor for prioritizing workers welfare and for fulfilling all his campaign promises to local government workers.

Iweh disclosed that there will be a symposium on Wednesday, 18th September 2024, Vice Chancellor of David Osadebe University, Delta State, Prof Robert Dode, will speak on the theme, “Local Government Administration, Strengthening Grassroots Administration and Inclusivity in Governance” at Helimah Event Centre, Aka Itiam Road, Uyo, by 9a.m.  

The week long event will be rounded-off with a fundraising for the completion of an auditorium for local government workers and a cultural carnival on Thursday 19th September at Unity park, Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo.
