Bayelsa state table tennis chairman reiterates commitment to groom young talents

South-South Zonal Representative in the board of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation Ama-Ebi Ebikapolade has reiterated his commitment to groom talents within the zone that will represent the country in the future.

Ebikapolade last year emerge winner of the south- south zonal election in the board NTTF to end Orok Duke’s sixteen years reign on the board.

In an interview Mr Ebikapolade said as a representative in the NTTF that his dream was to organize a Table Tennis league for South-South state in order to engage youths, noting that if the youths are engaged that it would reduce crime rate in the zone.

He noted that the country is blessed with abundant talents but lamented that the absence of trained coaches was impacting negatively on the players.

Ebikapolade pointed out that the inability of our local coaches to adapt to modern   equipment has continued to affect performance of players.

Ebikapolade who doubles as the Chairman of the Bayelsa State Table Tennis Association explained that the Association in  intend to expose Bayelsa Born stars Samuel Boboye  for oversea training.

According to Ebikapolade ,18 years old  Boboye who hails from Ekeremor town in Ekeremor Local Government of Bayelsa State, despite storming Nigeria by surprise that the young lad has never been trained by a certified coach.

Mr Ebikapolade asserted he was working around the clock  to ensure that he immediate constituent; the Bayelsa Table Tennis Association and South- south zone attract sponsors in order leave the burden on government, stating that once things are finalized,table tennis programs would be on TV as a way of attracting investors.

When asked about his expectation on Bayelsa Table Tennis Association, he said his aspiration was to consolidate on the achievement of Abuja 2018 and Edo 2020 National Sports Festival that produced Boboye.

Ebikapolade assured that the Association would continue to put up programmes that would discover hidden talents in the zone and beyond.
