On Saturday 19th February, 2022, the Executive Secretary, NCDMB, Engr Simbi Wabote, FNSE represented by Dr. Ama Ikuru (FNSE), GM, Capacity Building Division, was at the second edition of the Niger Delta Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) Summit held at Sweet Spirit Hotel, Asaba, Delta State.

The ES in his Keynote Address congratulated the organizers as he was delighted to be here and hoped that constant rubbing of minds will lead to breakthroughs and genuine and sustainable development of our country and our people.

He noted that he was particularly elated to be addressing young professionals in their 20s and 30s who are employed in decent and white-collar professions and many others who are entrepreneurs in what he would call “startup-preneurs”. He added that People in this bracket constitute about 30% of Nigeria’s 217 million population and when you consider that Nigeria has a labour force of over 80 million people and as of 2020, Nigerians aged 25 to 34 years old represented the largest labour force population in the country, with around 23 million people. “You will agree with me that the development and advancement of Nigeria is in the hands of these young professionals.” He pointed out.

“I am confident that you have the resources, experience and competencies required to deliver services in the oil and gas industry.”

In summing he said that the NCDMB is very proud of the participants and the organizers of the Niger Delta Micro Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) Summit 2022. “Young professionals are the hope for the future of the Nigerian economy. There are opportunities in the oil and gas industry and opportunities in technology development, we have already seen progress in Finance technology and entertainment.” He highlighted.

He thanked the organizers for extending this invitation to the Board.
