LP writes INEC in Bayelsà, reschedule State,NASS primaries till 30th May,2026
The Labour Party in Bayelsà State has written a formal letter to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over it’s decision to reschedule it’s State and National Assemblies Primaries till 30th of May,2026.
The leadership of the Party indicated that the rescheduled primaries is expected to adopt consensus system for all constituencies and Senatorial districts of the State.
The letter, dated 21st of May,2026 and signed by the State Chairman, Eneyi Zidoughan and State Secetary, Talbot Jonnie, stated that the primaries initially fixed for 27th to 29th of May,2026 was affected by the review of electoral timeline and the Eidel Kabir (Salah) celebration which is observed as National Holiday.
The letter, announcing the decision to reschedule the primaries was addressed to the State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC).
