Again, Gov Diri Assures Security Agencies Of Continued Support
... Inaugurates NSCDC Projects In Yenagoa
The Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has reassured the various federal security agencies of his administration’s continued support and collaboration in strengthening security to promote peace and stability in the state.
Governor Diri gave the assurance on Thursday while commissioning a newly constructed quarter guard, command sick bay and other projects at the state command headquarters of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Yenagoa, the state capital.
The Governor, who spoke at the ceremony through his Deputy, Dr. Peter Akpe, maintained that his administration would continue to prioritize investment in the security sector, and acknowledged the operational synergy existing among the various security agencies in the state.
Governor Diri also applauded the state commandant, officers and men of the NSCDC for their dedication to duty and continued contributions to the protection of lives, critical assets and infrastructure in the state.
According to the Bayelsa Chief Executive, the commissioning of the projects is a clear demonstration of the command’s commitment to institutional growth, welfare of personnel, operational readiness and improved service delivery.
His words: “It is my pleasure to be here at the Civil Defence Headquarters, Yenagoa, to identify with the Command on this important occasion.
“I commend the Commandant and officers of the NSCDC, Bayelsa State Command, for their dedication to duty and their continued contribution to the security and protection of lives, critical assets, and public infrastructure in our State.
“On behalf of the Government of Bayelsa State, I assure you of our continued support and partnership in strengthening security and promoting peace across the State.”
Earlier in his welcome address, the State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr Matthew Palmer, noted that the projects, which reflected the vision of the Commandant General, Professor Abubakar Audu, and the enabling platform created by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, were meant to enhance operational efficiency and boost morale among personnel.
Palmer, who expressed gratitude to the Governor for honouring the invitation, pointed out that the Quarter Guard stands out as the face of discipline and readiness, adding that the officers mess would become the hub for professional engagement, welfare and bonding among NSCDC officers in the state command.
He said, “Today marks a milestone for the Command: the commissioning of our newly constructed Quarter Guard, Photo Stand, activation of Sickbay and the groundbreaking of our Command’s Officers Mess.
“The Quarter Guard stands as the face of our discipline and readiness. The Photo Stand will preserve our history and pride. The Sick Bay affirms our commitment to the health and welfare of our officers and men. And with today’s groundbreaking, the Command Officers’ Mess will soon become a hub for professional engagement, welfare and bonding of our officers.
“These projects reflect the vision of the Commandant General, Prof. A.A. Audi OFR, to provide befitting infrastructure that enhances operational efficiency and boosts morale. This is made possible due to the sustainable enabling platform put in place by the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
“They (projects) were made possible through the dedication and operational compliance of the State Commandant and the support of well-meaning stakeholders.”
In their separate goodwill messages, the Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police, CP Daniel Iyamah; the Commander of Mobility Command, Nigerian Air Force, represented by Air Commodore Muhammed Garba, and Assistant Commandant General Ben Dikuro, commended the state NSCDC Commandant for embarking on the projects, which they described as laudable.
The highpoint of the event was the commissioning of the Command’s Quarter Guard, Photo Stand, activation of the Sick Bay and the groundbreaking for the Officers’ Mess.
