The Bayelsa State Volunteer Security Outfit has apprehended a 20-year-old man, identified as Ekeowei Franklin, over alleged theft at a hotel in Yenagoa, the state capital.
Franklin, a resident of Tamic Road, Yenagoa, and an indigene of Azuzuama Community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, was arrested in the early hours of Saturday at White Eagle Hotel, Etegwe, Yenagoa.
According to the security outfit, the suspect allegedly gained access to the hotel premises by climbing over the fence and made away with N100,000 cash, drinks and other items.
One of his alleged accomplices, identified only as Mimi, reportedly escaped during the operation and remains at large.
The suspect was subsequently handed over to Operation Doo-Akpó of the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Bayelsa State Volunteer Security Outfit reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the protection of lives and property and maintaining peace and security across the state.
The outfit also urged residents to remain vigilant and provide useful information to security agencies to assist in the fight against crime.
