APC gives Sylva nod to contest April 14 primaries, issues certificate to former governor
Amidst calls by some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC),the national screening committee of the party has cleared the former governor of Bayelsa State and Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Chief Timipre Sylva.
The clearance certificate dated 25th of March 2023 sighted by our correspondent was signed by the screening committee chairman and secretary respectively.
Niger Delta Herald reports that with clearance, the coast is now clear for the Okpoama born poltcian to contest for the party’s primaries scheduled for April 14,2023.
The former Bayelsa State helmsman will be up against the former governor elec, chief David Lyon, a former Vice Chancellor of the Maritime University Okerenkoko Professor Ongoebi Maureen Etebu, Mr Joshua Michiver, a legal practitioner and a former senatorial candidate Festus Daumiebi and Chief Mrs Isikima Johnson Ogbomade.
Recall that the APC won the governorship election in 2019 but the victory was upturned by the Supreme Court following the issue of name variant in the certificates of governorship running mate Senator Biobarakuma Degi.
