Anatolia Energy Trains Nembe Okiori HCDT Leaders on Sustainable Community Development
Anatolia Energy and Services Limited, operator of PML 104/Nembe Okiori Oil Field, has commenced a three-day Leadership Development Programme for members of the Nembe Okiori Host Community Development Trust (HCDT) as part of its strategic commitment to strengthening the capacity of the Trust to drive sustainable development in its host communities in line with the provisions of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021.
The capacity-building programme is designed to equip members of the Trust with the knowledge and skills required for effective management and administration of the HCDT. Key areas of training include strategic leadership, management skills, teamwork, legal and regulatory frameworks governing Host Community Development Trusts, stakeholder engagement, and effective communication.
Speaking during the opening plenary session, the Chief Operating Officer of Anatolia Energy and Services Limited, Dr. Adeleke Adedipe, encouraged participants to take full advantage of the programme.
He noted that the company, as Settlor of the Trust, had invested significant resources in organizing the training to ensure that members are adequately prepared to manage the affairs of the HCDT effectively and promote sustainable development across the host communities.
Dr. Adedipe emphasized that a well-equipped and properly managed Trust would not only facilitate community development but also foster a conducive environment for the company’s operations within the Nembe Kingdom.
The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), represented by the Manager of its Bayelsa Field Office, Mr. Sylvester Bighoro, commended Anatolia Energy for the initiative. He urged members of the Nembe Okiori Host Community Development Trust to take the training seriously and apply the knowledge acquired in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Mr. Bighoro expressed the Commission’s satisfaction with the capacity-building efforts of the Settlor, describing the programme as a positive step toward strengthening community governance structures established under the Petroleum Industry Act.
Also speaking, the Bayelsa State Commissioner for Mineral Resources, represented by the Director of Petroleum, Engr. Kuroakighe Simon Mathias, applauded Anatolia Energy for organizing the leadership development programme. He stated that the training would significantly enhance the performance and effectiveness of the Trust in delivering development projects and initiatives to the benefiting communities.
According to him, the Bayelsa State Government remains committed to supporting oil and gas companies operating in the state to ensure peaceful and seamless operations while promoting the welfare of host communities.
The Nembe Okiori Host Community Development Trust was inaugurated on June 10, 2025, to serve as a platform for driving sustainable development in the host communities.
The leadership development programme is expected to further position the Trust to effectively deliver on its mandate through strategic partnerships with the Settlor and other stakeholders.
Anatolia Energy and Services Limited is the operator of PML 104/Nembe Okiori Oil Field located in Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
