The Office of the President of Azikel Group has denied claims by the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Central Zone that its President, Dr. Eruani Azibapu CFR, held discussions with the zone’s leadership and agreed to a peace meeting over the ongoing dispute involving Daukoru Kariyai and Ebilate Yebei.
In a press statement issued on Sunday by Austin Ebipade Lead Spokesman, the Office of the President of Azikel Group said it was responding to a July 26, 2026 press release by the Information Officer of the IYC Central Zone, which claimed that dialogue had commenced and that both parties had agreed to meet on Tuesday, July 28, to pursue an out-of-court settlement.
The company acknowledged receiving communication from the national leadership of the Ijaw Youth Council regarding both criminal and civil litigations currently before the court.
However, it categorically denied having any direct or indirect communication with the Chairman of the IYC Central Zone, Comrade Perekosufa Ineife, contrary to claims contained in the IYC’s statement.
“The Office of the President of Azikel Group and Dr. Eruani Azibapu CFR have not had any communication, direct or indirect, with Perekosufa Ineife,” the statement said.
The office also dismissed reports that a meeting had been scheduled with the IYC Central Zone on Tuesday, July 28, stating that no such meeting had been arranged.
According to the statement, the clarification was issued to set the record straight and correct what it described as misleading information circulating in the public domain regarding the matter.
The latest development comes hours after the IYC Central Zone announced the suspension of its planned solidarity walk, citing what it described as a breakthrough in peace efforts and ongoing dialogue aimed at resolving the dispute. The Azikel Group’s response, however, contradicts those claims, indicating that no direct engagement has taken place between Dr. Eruani and the IYC Central Zone leadership.
