The Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao Saka Adewale, has appealed to protesters in Biseni community, Yenagoa Local Government Area, to remove road blockades and allow free movement, following a protest over alleged years of underdevelopment and lack of basic amenities.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Musa Muhammed, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, saying the Commissioner of Police visited the community on October 3, 2026, alongside the Chairman of Yenagoa Local Government Council, Hon. Bulodisiye Ndiwari, to engage elderly women and youths involved in the protest.
Muhammed said the protesters had blocked the road to express their frustration over what they described as years of neglect and poor living conditions despite the community’s oil-producing status.
He said the blockade had prevented other road users from accessing the route, adding that CP Adewale listened to the concerns of the residents and appealed to them to remain calm.
According to him, the police commissioner urged the protesters to reopen the road and allow free movement while their demands were taken up with the state government and other relevant stakeholders.
Adewale, he said, assured the community that the police command would support peaceful engagement aimed at resolving the issues raised by the protesters.
The commissioner cautioned the protesters against actions capable of endangering lives or disrupting public peace, urging them to pursue their demands through dialogue.
He reminded the protesters that only the living could benefit from the development they were demanding for their community.
