Bayelsa Transparency Briefing: Our Projects Are Well Funded – Information Commissioner
The Bayelsa State Government has assured residents that ongoing projects across the state are not suffering from funding shortfalls, as the administration continues to prioritise infrastructure development and economic growth.
The Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Mrs. Ebiowou Koku-Obiyai, gave the assurance on Tuesday during the state’s Transparency Briefing, where she said several flagship projects had recorded significant progress due to adequate and sustained funding.
According to the commissioner, critical infrastructure projects including roads, bridges, the stadium complex, the new secretariat complex and gas turbine projects have reached notable milestones, reflecting the government’s commitment to timely execution and value for money.
She noted that the Prosperity Assured Administration of Governor Douye Diri has remained focused on diversifying the state’s economy, stressing that strategic investments have been made in key sectors capable of driving long-term development and job creation.
“The Assured Prosperity administration has been working tirelessly to diversify the Bayelsa economy. Serious investments have been made in the blue economy, agriculture, marine transportation, tourism, as well as the acquisition of two aircraft to boost connectivity and economic activities,” Koku-Obiyai said.
She further explained that the state government has institutionalised regular transparency and financial briefings as part of its commitment to openness, accountability and public trust, adding that citizens deserve to be kept informed about how public funds are managed.
Also speaking at the briefing, the Technical Adviser on Treasury, Accounts and Revenue, Mr. Timipre Seipulou, presented a detailed breakdown of the state’s income and expenditure for the months of October, November and December 2025.
Seipulou said the financial figures demonstrated that the Bayelsa State Government remains financially stable and capable of meeting its obligations, attributing the situation to prudent fiscal management under the leadership of Governor Douye Diri.
He assured residents that the government would continue to maintain financial discipline while sustaining funding for ongoing and future projects across the state.
Other top government officials present at the transparency briefing included the Accountant-General of the State, . Tokoni Ifidi, and the Director-General of Bayelsa Government New Media, Dr. Kolawole Oredipe.
