‘Do not jeopardise your future for temporary pleasure’ – Giv. charges Corps members

Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has urged corps members to remain disciplined, law-abiding, and focused, warning them not to sacrifice their future for temporary pleasure.

Governor Diri, who gave the charge during the closing ceremony of the 2026 Batch B Stream I Orientation Course held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Boro Town, Bayelsa State, commended the corps members for their exemplary discipline, resilience, and active participation throughout the orientation exercise.

Diri, represented by his Executive Assistant on NYSC matters, Hon. Wisdom Poyeri, encouraged Corps members to sustain the values and virtues acquired during the three-week programme, reminding them that the choices they make during their service year would shape their future.

“Do not jeopardize your future for temporary pleasure. Remain law-abiding, diligent, focused, and be worthy ambassadors of the NYSC and your families,” he admonished.

Governor Diri also reassured the corps members of the Bayelsa State Government’s continued commitment to providing a peaceful, secure, and enabling environment for them throughout their service year.

“Bayelsa is your home for the next one year. Make it count and make the state proud,” he said.

Earlier, the Bayelsa State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mr. Samuel Amaramiro Pepple, congratulated the corps members on the successful completion of the orientation course and charged them to uphold the discipline, patriotism, and spirit of national unity instilled during their stay in camp.

He encouraged them to positively impact their host communities and discharge their responsibilities with dedication and integrity.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of various security agencies and other distinguished guests, including the Nigerian Army’s 16 Brigade, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Immigration Service, the Federal Road Safety Corps, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, the Joint Task Force, and the Nigeria Police Force.

Also in attendance were the Camp Commandant, the Deputy Camp Director, His Royal Majesty of Kolokuma Kingdom, ASP Bobby Bob, Lt. Col. O. O. Oni representing the Commander of Joint Task Force Operation Delta Safe, Rear Admiral O. B. F. Oladipo, Lt. Lenti Elisha representing the Commissioner of Police, Patrick Aidi representing the State Director of the DSS, and ASC Matthew E. Dinipre, Head of the NSCDC in Bayelsa State.
