Ijaw National Congress Schedules Delegate Elections for March 7

The Ijaw National Congress (INC) has fixed March 7, 2026, for its National Delegate Elections, following the release of the official timetable by the INC National Electoral Committee (INC N-ELECO).

The timetable was issued by the committee chaired by Justice F. F. Tabai, with Dr. Olobo Choice Jamaica as Secretary and Amaopusenibo Shedrack Fubara as Chairman of the Planning and Publicity Sub-Committee.

According to the schedule, the electoral process will commence with the sale and collection of nomination forms from January 12 to January 26, 2026, while campaigns will run from January 12 to March 6, 2026.

Aspirants are expected to return completed nomination forms on February 10, 2026. The National Convention Delegate List is to be submitted at the Ijaw House on February 14, 2026, while claims and objections on the delegate list will be entertained between February 16 and 18, 2026.

The final publication of the delegate list is scheduled for February 20 to 21, 2026, also at Ijaw House, Yenagoa. Screening of candidates will hold between February 19 and 21, 2026.

In preparation for the polls, INC N-ELECO announced that a test run of the electronic voting system to be deployed for the election will take place on March 3 and 4, 2026.

The committee also scheduled a non-elective convention and presentation of manifestoes by cleared candidates for March 6, 2026, between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm, in Yenagoa.

The Election Day and announcement of results will hold on March 7, 2026, at Ijaw House, Yenagoa.

INC N-ELECO reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a transparent, credible, and fair election, urging all members of the Ijaw Nation to participate actively and uphold the values of unity and integrity throughout the process.
