Former Nigerian President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has dismissed allegations linking him and members of his family to an aviation training programme at the centre of an ongoing dispute between private parties.

In a statement issued on June 24, 2026, by his spokesman, Ikechukwu Eze, the former president described as “false, baseless and malicious” claims that some of his relatives allegedly failed a pilot training examination but were later sent abroad for training through preferential treatment.

The statement said neither Jonathan nor any member of his family had any connection with the aviation training programme referenced in a social media publication by one Kariyau Daukaru.

According to the former president’s office, no relative of Jonathan applied for, participated in, failed, or benefited from the pilot training programme. It also stated that no member of his family is currently undergoing pilot or aviation training in the United States or elsewhere under the arrangement mentioned.

The office further stressed that Jonathan neither played any role in administering the programme nor influenced its processes in favour of any individual.

It accused those behind the allegations of deliberately attempting to sensationalise a private dispute by exploiting the former president’s name and public profile.

While urging parties involved in the dispute to seek redress through appropriate legal and institutional channels, the office maintained that the allegations against Jonathan and his family were entirely false and should be disregarded by the public.

The statement also called on those responsible for circulating the claims to immediately correct the record and desist from further publication of what it described as falsehoods concerning the former president and his family.
