The Federal House of Representative Flag bearer of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the Nembe/Brass Federal Constituency, Hon. Jonathan Robinson Obuebite, PhD has felicitated with Nigerians and the people of Bayelsà State over the celebration of Independence and creation of the state.

Hon. Jonathan Robinson Obuebite, PhD said the Independence and creation of Bayelsà state is worthy of celebration due to the sustained show of resilience, peace and cohesion by the people despite challenges and all other odds.

Obuebite, in a statement in Yenagoa, described the October 1st as a remarkable and divinely significant day for us and a day the nation celebrate freedom as a Nation, and a day we thank God for the creation of Bayelsa, our only homeland and our Jerusalem, “The Glory of all lands”, carved out of Rivers State on October 1, 1996, by the late General Sani Abacha.

In the message, Obuebite stated that the celebration of independence and Bayelsa@30 showed that “Truly, “This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it” _ (Psalm 118:24.”

“On behalf of my family and political party, the All Progressives Congress, I heartily felicitate with you on this double celebration, Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary and the 30th Anniversary of the Creation of our dear Bayelsa State.”

“On this historic occasion, I wish to express my profound appreciation to all our founding fathers and past leaders who laboured tirelessly to build Bayelsa from scratch, Navy Captain Philip O. Ayeni, CP Habu Daura, Captain Omoniyi Caleb Olubolade, Col. Paul Edor Obi, to our first indigenous Governor, the Late Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha, former President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, Chief Timipre Sylva, and Sen. Henry Seriake Dickson, for their sacrifices, vision and contributions to the growth of our dear State.”

“Most importantly, I specially appreciate our God-sent Miracle Governor, His Excellency, Sen. Douye Diri, for his people-oriented leadership, his unprecedented infrastructural revolution, and for being an apostle of peace.”

“Under his watch, Bayelsa has truly become a haven of peace and unity, and we can boldly say, God is at work in Bayelsa.”

“To my resilient and beloved people of Brass and Nembe, you have remained peaceful, steadfast and committed to the progress of Bayelsa State and Nigeria at large despite all odds. I am very proud of you.”

“As we celebrate this milestone, I pray that the Lord will heal our land, unite us more, and let His peace that surpasses all understanding reign in our homes and communities. ”

“May the next 30 years bring greater development, prosperity, unity and glory to our Federal Constituency, to Bayelsa State and to our Nation.”
