Opu-Nembe Peace Steering Committee begins constitution consultations,

The Opu-Nembe Peace Steering Committee has invited chiefs, deputy chiefs,

elders, women, youths and opinion leaders of Opu-Nembe Kingdom, both at home and in the diaspora, to a consultative session on the drafting of a kingdom-wide constitution.

The three-day consultation is scheduled to hold from Wednesday, September 16th to Friday, September 18th, 2026, at the First Nembe Town Hall.

Morning sessions will begin at nine o’clock, while afternoon sessions will commence at two o’clock daily.

On Wednesday, September 16th, chiefs will meet in the morning, while deputy chiefs will hold their interactive session in the afternoon.

On Thursday, September 17th, elders and special elders will meet in the morning, while women and opinion leaders will hold their interactive session in the afternoon.

On Friday, September 18th, the programme will feature Oluasiri, Obioku and Ikensi representatives in the morning, followed by an interactive session with youths in the afternoon.

Complimentary round-trip transportation will be provided daily for delegates travelling from Yenagoa to Opu-Nembe.

Buses will depart from beside the NNPC Mega Filling Station, near the Flyover, Ekeki, Yenagoa, at 7:30 a.m. each morning.

The proposed kingdom-wide constitution is expected to promote unity, peace, equality, justice, transparency, accountability and integrity across Opu-Nembe Kingdom.
