Tarabina Charges Contractors on Project Completion Timeline in Bayelsa
The Chairman of the Directorate for Project Monitoring and Evaluation in Bayelsa State, Hon. (Engr.) Ebiye Tarabina, has charged contractors handling various government projects across the state to accelerate the pace of work, stressing that project completion timelines remain non-negotiable.
Engr. Tarabina gave the directive on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, during an inspection tour of the 13-kilometre Angiama/Enewari road project.
He emphasized that projects embarked upon by the Prosperity Administration are legacy initiatives designed to be delivered to the people as scheduled. According to him, the government remains committed to infrastructural development that will drive multidimensional economic growth across the state.
The chairman further stressed that the Directorate would enforce strict adherence to approved standards and specifications, noting that the projects are critical to the overall development of Bayelsa State.
Responding, the site supervisor, Engr. Habib Jrad Soriana, said significant progress had been recorded on the project. He disclosed that over 10 kilometres of clearing had been completed, while sand filling had reached more than 5 kilometres.
He added that 10 culverts have been constructed, with the 11th currently ongoing.
According to him, work is also progressing on a two-span, 30-metre bridge at chainage 1+900, where piling has been completed. Reinforcement work on both abutments is ongoing, while 12 out of the 14 required base structures have already been cast.
The chairman subsequently inspected the Akaba/Okodi Road Phase II project, covering the stretch from Okodi to Ayakoro. At the site, clearing had been completed, while the formation of bond walls was ongoing. Dredging along the alignment and construction of a box culvert were also in progress.
Engr. Tarabina was accompanied on the inspection tour by the Secretary of the Directorate, Engr. Sampson Igodo, board members, and other engineers.
The statement was signed by Sambo Sataria, Director of Media and Publicity.
