Tarabina Inspects Angiama–Oporoma Bridge, Urges Speedy Completion

The Chairman, Directorate for Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Bayelsa State, Ebiye Tarabina, has inspected the ongoing Angiama–Oporoma Bridge project and the link road connecting Otuan and Oporoma communities.

In a statement signed by the Director of Media and Publicity of the Directorate, Sambo Satara, the chairman commended the contractor for completing sand-filling works on the main access road to Oporoma but urged the firm to expedite action to ensure the timely completion of the project.

Tarabina, who spoke while inspecting the Oporoma axis of the road, expressed satisfaction with the level of work achieved so far, noting that the project remains critical to improving access and development in the riverine communities.

The inspection team also visited the Akaba–Okodi Road and the Agbura–Oxbow Lake Road. On the Akaba–Okodi Road, stone base laying, construction of bond walls, and binder course works are currently ongoing. At the Agbura–Oxbow Lake Road, kerb stone installation is in progress, while the binder course has been completed, with the project awaiting the wearing course.

The chairman reaffirmed the commitment of the Bayelsa State Government to strict monitoring of public infrastructure projects to ensure quality delivery and value for money.

He was accompanied on the inspection by the Secretary of the Directorate, Engr. Sampson Igodo, board members, engineers, and other officials.
