The Chairman of the Bayelsa State Directorate for Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Engr. Ebiye Tarabina, has inspected ongoing road and bridge projects in Ekeremor Local Government Area to assess progress and ensure contractors execute government projects according to approved standards.

During the inspection of the ongoing Ekeremor–Agge Road project, Tarabina commended the contractor for the progress recorded in the ongoing sand-filling operations and bridge construction at the Opuokede River.

He, however, charged the contractor to expedite work and intensify efforts to achieve more milestones within the coming days.

The Chairman thereafter proceeded to inspect the Toru-Ebeni and Bolu-Orua road projects, where significant progress has also been recorded.

At the Bolu-Orua axis, about one kilometre of sand-cement stabilisation and 600 metres of stone-base work have been completed. At the Toru-Ebeni axis, three kilometres of stone base have been completed to final levels.

He also inspected ongoing sand-dredging operations at Okumbiri, Amatolo and Kabeama, stressing the need for contractors to maintain quality and accelerate the pace of work.

Tarabina said the Directorate would continue to monitor government projects across the state to ensure compliance with specifications, quality standards and timelines, in line with the administration’s commitment to delivering durable infrastructure to the people.

The Chairman was accompanied on the inspection by the Secretary of the Directorate, Engr. Sampson Igodo, members of the board, engineers and other officials.
