A tragic boat accident involving a pastor, his wife, and several church members from Odioama in Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State has thrown the community into mourning.
The incident reportedly occurred along the Twon Brass River while the victims were travelling for a church programme.
Residents of Odioama and neighbouring communities have been gripped by anxiety and uncertainty as search and rescue efforts continue for those still missing.
Sources confirmed that the body of the pastor’s wife has been recovered and deposited at a mortuary, while efforts are ongoing to locate the pastor and other passengers yet to be found.
The Twon Brass River route is known for its dangerous and challenging conditions, making water transportation risky for commuters in the area.
Community members have expressed deep sorrow over the incident and are praying for the success of the ongoing rescue operation.
