Lokpobiri to Co-Host International Energy Forum Ministerial, Champion Nigeria’s Investment Potential at WPC Energy Congress
The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Ph.D., will co-host the 17th International Energy Forum (IEF) Ministerial Meeting alongside Italy’s Minister of the Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on October 11, 2026.
In a statement issued by Nneamaka Okafor, Special Assistant on Media and Communications to the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Lokpobiri is also expected to participate in the 25th WPC Energy Congress, where he will chair the Nigerian Investment Forum and join a ministerial panel on global oil matters.
According to the statement, the engagements will provide Nigeria with a strategic platform to strengthen international energy cooperation, showcase ongoing reforms and attract investments into the country’s oil and gas industry.
The IEF Ministerial Meeting is expected to bring together energy leaders to deliberate on critical issues, including global energy security, market stability, investor confidence and the changing dynamics of international energy markets.
Lokpobiri is expected to use the platforms to highlight Nigeria’s commitment to building a competitive, transparent and investor-friendly petroleum industry, supported by reforms introduced under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), improved regulatory certainty and initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and boosting production.
At the Nigerian Investment Forum, the minister will engage prospective investors and industry stakeholders on investment opportunities across exploration, production, infrastructure and other segments of the petroleum value chain.
The engagements are expected to reinforce Nigeria’s commitment to constructive global energy dialogue while advancing energy security, economic growth and mutually beneficial international partnerships.
