Osun Account Freeze: G.37 group hails Tinubu over reversal order to EFCC

The Planning and Strategy Officer of the G-37 of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Miriki Ebikibina, has commended President Bola Tinubu for directing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to lift the restriction on the Osun State Government account.

According to Miriki, the move is timely and responsive to the need for a peaceful and credible electoral process ahead of the August fifteen, twenty-twenty-six governorship election.

Ebikibina, a former National Youth Leader of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and founding member of the APC, said the restriction on the state government’s account so close to the election could have created additional administrative and security concerns in a state already experiencing heightened security challenges.

He said the President’s intervention had helped to address concerns surrounding the matter and demonstrated the importance of maintaining an environment conducive to a free, fair, peaceful, and credible election.

Ebikibina, who is also the Technical Adviser to the Bayelsa State Governor on General Duties, urged the EFCC to continue carrying out its constitutional responsibilities with professionalism, transparency, and fairness, particularly in matters with significant public and electoral implications.

The technical adviser stressed that the Commission’s actions should always be guided by due process and carried out in a manner that reassures Nigerians that its mandate is being applied impartially, without creating perceptions of political bias, intimidation, or suppression.

He noted that maintaining public confidence in institutions remains essential to the success of Nigeria’s democratic process, particularly as Osun State prepares for the August fifteenth governorship election.
