Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has been commended for signing 14 executive bills into law, a development described as a significant step towards strengthening institutional reforms, improving service delivery and advancing the implementation of the state’s ARISE Agenda.

The Chairman of the National Association of Government General Medical and Dental Practitioners (NAGGMDP), Akwa Ibom State branch, Dr. Edikan Ackley, gave the commendation while speaking with journalists in Uyo.

Ackley said the signing of the bills demonstrated the governor’s commitment to reforms and his vision for the development of the state.

According to him, “If the bills were not necessary, the governor would not have signed them into law. It is a welcome development and it shows his focus and vision towards achieving the ARISE Agenda.”

The NAGGMDP chairman noted that the bills were signed at the Executive Council Chamber in the presence of the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Mr. Udeme Otong, and other members of the legislature.

He commended Governor Eno for his efforts, noting that signing the 14 bills despite the challenges involved demonstrated his determination to strengthen governance and institutional development in the state.

Ackley also acknowledged the governor’s efforts in the health sector, particularly his interventions on the welfare of medical doctors and other health workers, as well as the approval for the recruitment of additional health personnel.

He said the recruitment was unprecedented and would help address manpower shortages and improve healthcare delivery across the state.

The chairman further disclosed that nine health-related bills had been passed into law, describing them as executive bills that had been prepared for some time.

He urged stakeholders and residents of the state not to take the development for granted, stressing that the new laws would contribute to the improvement of the health sector and other areas of governance.

Ackley called on the people of Akwa Ibom to support Governor Eno’s administration, saying the governor had continued to demonstrate commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises through the implementation of the ARISE Agenda.
