Tarabina Hails Emergence of Yilwatda as APC Chairman, Commends Diri’s Leadership in South-South
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tarabina, has applauded the emergence of Nnatewe Yilwatda as the new National Chairman of the party, expressing optimism that the development will reposition the APC for greater electoral success ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Tarabina made this known while speaking with journalists on the sidelines of the party’s national convention, where critical decisions shaping the future of the APC were taken.
Describing the emergence of Yilwatda as timely and strategic, Tarabina said the new chairman possesses the leadership capacity, political experience, and unifying disposition required to steer the party forward and consolidate its gains at the national level.
He noted that he has strong confidence in the new leadership to deepen internal cohesion, strengthen party structures nationwide, and effectively mobilize members toward securing victory in 2027.
According to him, “The emergence of Yilwatda is a welcome development. It signals renewed hope for our great party. I am confident that under his leadership, the APC will continue to grow stronger and maintain its dominance in Nigeria’s political landscape.”
Tarabina also used the opportunity to commend the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, for what he described as purposeful and inclusive leadership in the South-South region.
He particularly praised Governor Diri for providing direction and stability in the region, as well as for leading the Bayelsa delegation to the national convention in a manner that reflected unity and political maturity.
Tarabina further lauded Diri for what he termed “giving the South-South a voice and leadership presence” in the broader political space, noting that such efforts contribute to national cohesion and balanced representation.
“Governor Diri has demonstrated commendable leadership, not just in Bayelsa but across the South-South. His commitment to unity and effective representation at the convention is highly commendable,” he said.
He emphasized that the synergy between experienced leaders at the state level and the new national leadership would be crucial in strengthening the APC’s position and ensuring continued electoral success

The APC national convention, which attracted delegates and stakeholders from across the country, is expected to shape the party’s strategic direction as it prepares for future political engagements.
